The Hintons needed urgent mouse control – fast!
Mice were running all over the kitchen
Pest control using poison made the problem worse
Finally, comprehensive mouse proofing saved the day
Mouse problems are getting pretty bad when it feels like the mice think your kitchen is their home – and you are the lodgers, says Natasha Hinton.
She and her partner, John, and their three children suffered a serious mouse infestation for four months, when it began to feel like they were not in control of what was happening within their own four walls.
Natasha explained: “We’d see the mice running over the kitchen. We even nearly tripped over one or two of them. There was mouse poo and urine everywhere. You’d hear them screeching at each other. It was like they had taken over.
“There didn’t appear to be anything we could do to get rid of the mice. Then we realised, we needed to protect our home against the mice coming in, and found SUPERPROOFTM mouse proofing through Google. Only then, did we get something done.”

There were mice everywhere!
The couple’s problems began when mice started coming into their terraced home in north west London from a derelict house next door. They had always found the occasional mouse in the house. Suddenly, they were dealing with a serious mice infestation. Mice started appearing everywhere, in the kitchen, in bedrooms and cupboards.
Council pest control officers put down eight poison bait boxes around their house in an attempt to eradicate the mice. That just made the problem worse. Natasha said: “The mice were clearly being killed because we began to smell their decaying bodies everywhere. The smell was disgusting.
“The mouse problem didn’t go away. More mice just came in. It was like killing one lot of mice gave the opportunity for others to take over. We couldn’t see an end to it.
“Mice began chewing holes in our skirting boards and behind cupboards. They were really making themselves at home. The poison didn’t have a long-term effect. Mice kept coming back.”
Mouse control in action
Natasha, a food operations manager, and John, a TV production manager, realised it was time to take back control of their own home. So they called SUPERPROOFTM to carry out mouse proofing. It made sense, says Natasha, that they needed to stop the mice from getting in.
She added: “The SUPERPROOFTM technician was amazing. He pulled out all the kick boards in our kitchen, and you could see where all the gaps were behind them where the mice could get in. We’d had the kitchen installed last year, and it appeared the fitters had left lots of holes everywhere, which were perfect for mice to get in. They then added a few more of their own.
“The SUPERPROOFTM man spent the whole day mouse proofing our house with different kinds of material. He was incredibly thorough. He left in the evening, then came back an hour later, because on the way home he realised he’d forgotten to proof around the electrical fuse box, so came back to do it.
“For me, that’s very impressive. Most contractors would never do that. It shows the standards SUPERPROOFTM sets and that their staff care.”
The results were instant. Since the mouse proofing has been done, the Hintons have not seen a single mouse in their house. They do hear them, occasionally, behind the wall adjoin the derelict house next door, but it’s clear they can’t get in. Once the house is back in use, that should be resolved as well.
Natasha said: “The SUPERPROOFTM mouse proofing service is excellent. The guarantee is good to have too. If we get mice in the house in the next year, I know SUPERPROOF will come back and deal with them.”
The Hintons are now fully convinced the answer to mouse control problems in mouse proofing. London is a major hotspot for rodent infestation, especially in central areas where properties are older and population densities higher.
Natasha said: “I will now be letting all my friends and neighbours know about SUPERPROOFTM. It works, and the service was absolutely amazing. We were so pleased.”
