When Julie Partington discovered mice had chomped a hole in her eight-year-old daughter’s Heroes Easter egg she knew she needed some real heroes to deal with the pests.
So, she called SUPERPROOF – who else? – to have her home thoroughly mouse proofed, to make sure any future chocolate treats are 100% protected against sweet-toothed rodents.
Julie said: “The service was brilliant, and the work very thorough. It made sense to me to stop the mice getting in, and the proofing work was so good, you could hardly notice it. Where you could, I think it made my home look even neater.
“Since SUPERPROOF has completed the mouse proofing, there have been no more signs of mice, so I am very pleased, and so is Evie!”

Who’s the naughty nibbler? Julie suspected a mouse control problem when a hole appeared in Evie’s Heroes Easter egg
Who ate the egg?
Julie had left her daughter Evie’s Easter egg on the kitchen table in her Victorian semi-detached home in Dartford, Kent. The following morning, they found it had a neat hole in the middle of it.
Julie first suspected foul play of a human kind: “I asked Evie if she had been nibbling the egg, and she said no. Then I asked my 17-year-old son, Jonah, and it wasn’t him either.
“When we looked closely, we could see little teeth marks, and realised we had a mouse problem. I don’t like the idea of sharing my home with rodents, so I wanted to do something about it straight away.”
Queasy feeling
Freelance journalist Julie went on Facebook to ask friends what to do about her pest control problem, and got all sorts of lurid advice about how to kill mice with poisons and traps.
She said: “To be honest, I felt queasy about all the suggestions. Just because I don’t want mice squatting on my premises, it doesn’t mean I wanted to turn into an animal killer.
“I thought there must be a better way to get rid of mice, and after doing a bit of searching on line, I found SUPERPROOF. I liked the idea of a guarantee that I would be mouse-free for at least 6 months, so decided to give it a try.
“The SUPERPROOF technician came around first thing in the morning, and worked right through without stopping until after 6pm.
“He mouse proofed the whole house, and must have been an contortionist to get into some of the places where he found holes that mice could have used to get in.
“He even put a special mouse proofing strip under the front door, which has the added benefit of reducing drafts, so my heating bills will be lower as well.”
Bagpuss not needed
The success of SUPERPROOF’s mouse proofing also saved money in another way. Because Evie’s mouse removal plan involved buying a cat. Which had to be ginger. And fat. And called Bagpuss.
However, as SUPERPROOF has revealed, cats are rarely the best and most cost-effective way to get rid of mice.
Julie said: “Thanks to SUPERPROOF, we will only be having the kind of mice in the house that we want. And they will almost certainly be of the chocolate variety.”
