Tessa and Chris Parry knew they had a real rodent infestation problem when Chris felt a mouse run over his face while lying in bed. The answer was to call in SUPERPROOFTM, and now the risk of sleep being disturbed by mice feet is a thing of the past.
The couple had just completed a major building project at their Victorian terraced house in south London when they started seeing signs of mice. Mouse droppings and sounds of scurrying told them it wasn’t just them and their two young children living in the house.
Tessa and Max Parry - Max gave mum a cheeky surprise to try to suggest they still had to get rid of mice
Chartered Accountant Tessa says: “We think the building work helped the mice get into our home and take up residence. As the problem got worse we tried putting down glue traps, and bait boxes, and we caught some of the mice.
“But they seemed to be aware of what we were doing and move to other parts of the house where we hadn’t set traps or bait. Gradually, we began to see signs of them all over the house, and the final straw came when we realised they were in our children’s bedrooms, then Chris felt one on his face.
“Our attempts to get rid of the mice by conventional means clearly weren’t working so we needed a more effective approach.
“Our neighbour had used SUPERPROOFTM to get rid of mice and recommended them to us. The idea of preventing mice from getting into your property rather than trying to kill them all sounded very sensible so we agreed to be Superproofed.”
Going above and beyond to stop mice
They also appreciated the more humane approach. “I didn’t like the idea of coming down each morning and finding a half dead mouse caught in a trap. I didn’t want our children to have to see it, and I had real safety concerns about them being around rodent poison.”
It took our technician two days to Superproof the four-storey house. He found multiple points of entry for mice, plus evidence of cables, carpets and skirting boards being chewed through.
Tessa says: “It was surprising to see just how easy it was for mice to get in. We wouldn’t have either thought of all the places to look, or had the equipment and material SUPERPROOFTM used to block all the holes.
“The SUPERPROOFTM man worked his way methodically around the house, working very diligently. He even mended my son’s bed for me, which was propped up on some books. It was certainly a case of going above and beyond.”
The work to get rid of mice was carried out in January 2016 and, since then, there have been no signs of mice. The Parry family has been left to its own devices.
Tessa says Superproofing might cost more than conventional mouse control methods, but it is worth it, adding: “We had wasted a lot of money on traps and poison that didn’t work.
“For the peace of mind of knowing that the mice will be gone quickly and permanently, it is money very well spent, and we have the guarantee to back up the service.”
Max has a trick up his sleeve
The real mice had gone, but the Parrys’ four-year-old son, Max, had one trick up his sleeve that would give Tessa and Chris a bit of a surprise.
Tessa explains: “Soon after SUPERPROOFTM had completed their work, Max found some mice stickers in an art box.
“I came home from work one day to find them stuck to walls and furniture all over the house.
“He said we would have to get the ‘mice men’ back in. Thankfully, these mice could peel off!”
